Well last night was disappointing, I was involved in just the 3 games and at half time in France all was looking good, so the Lays were left to run to conclusion, end result 1 from 2.

In Italy things didn't go to plan and we ended up with a loser do overall 1 from 3 on the night which is a small loss.

We have quite a bit of action today:

As always not all bets are matched but I am hopeful of a good return from these, there are a couple of leagues that need to perform today as they are on the cusp of being discarded, Italy Serie B and Germany Bundesliga 1.

I am opposing these 2 in France Ligue 2:

Whether I leave them to run to conclusion is not yet decided, I may take a view at 45 minutes.

All Green

I wasn't going to post today as there are no games for me tonight, however I thought I would update what went down last night.

Only the 3 League 2 games were matched so we were sitting on Lays of Gillingham, Morcambe and Swindon.

So I should be reporting a 1 from 3 success today as only Morcambe failed to win.

That is not the case though as call it what you like, intuition, premonitions, guessing, luck or plain old "after timing" but I managed to trade out of all 3 games with a green screen before half time.

Now I know I have touched on this before that I normally let the 1x2 Lays run to conclusion but I have on the odd occasion decided to take a Green when presented rather than risk losing the stake and to find myself in a winning position in 3 of the 3 games so early on seamed too good to be true and I took the Greens which proved to be very shrewd indeed, all I have to do now is decide if this is the way forward long term and if so what are the triggers going to be for the trade outs...... much thinking to be done at Lay Away Towers.

Good Result in Argentina

A nice result in the early hours from Argentina as Lanus crashed and burned at home to San Martin S.J going down 1-3 and securing us a nice return on the Lay of the home team.

Looking forward again I have crunched some numbers and will be adding the American MLS as a Laying League when their season starts again in March, so we now have 2 additions Denmark and the USA.

This is good as the MLS are still playing when the a lot of the European Leagues have finished

I am waiting to be matched on the following games tonight and have already been matched on Swindon who host Burton Albion tonight, laying Swindon @ 1.4

The Charlton price may not get matched as it is currently on the drift, my maximum lay price is 1.98.

Almost a Clean Sweep

Of losers that is.............................. what a bad day that was, strange really as I had a bad feeling when I was placing the Lays that the day was not going to go well, the feeling was well justified as it didn't go at all well with only 1 from 7 coming in, one of the poorest days so far this season really.

The late Man Utd winner was a real kick in the teeth as the laying of the English sides away from home at odds on is by far my most profitable area this season and I thought I was about to bust through the 100 points + profit barrier but Ryan Giggs had other ideas.

Now that we are getting towards the business end of the season in most leagues I can start to see where we will be going with next seasons laying.

There are already some leagues that have been dropped and there are a couple that are teetering on the edge of being dropped, I have a stop loss figure for the leagues and once hit that's it for that league.

The good news is that overall I am still in front by some way and I have this morning found another league that I will be laying in at the start of March the Danish Superligaen.

Just the one game tonight and it is the 12:15am game in Argentina between Lanus and San Martin de San Juan Laying the hosts @ 1.86

Late Goals in France Spoil The Party

Yesterday wasn't a spectacular day but it would have been more than acceptable if we had not a the late goals in France

Valenciennes scored on 78 and then added another on 81 minutes and Montpellier scored on 80 minutes, this resulted in 2 losses.

Overall we were a tad down on the day but only a tad so no major damage done to the bank.

I never managed to get matched on the Colon game in Argentina which was just as well as they were 3-1 winners, unfortunately Estudiantes were also winners.

As predicted Villa failed to win at Wigan but I just couldn't bring myself to Lay them.

We have quite a bit of action in Argentina tonight and I have taken a different approach this morning by taking the early prices on all of the selections.

North London Derby at lunchtime, whilst I am tempted to oppose Arsenal. experience of these type of matches has taught me to avoid as recent form etc goes firmly out of the window.

Carling cup also today and I cannot see past Liverpool winning this one easily provided they turn up with the right attitude.

Relegation Battle Update

Last night went well with 3 from 5 bringing in the money.

Not such a hectic day again today but there are enough games to be getting involved in to make it a potentially very good or very bad day, regular readers know my views on Saturdays so I am hoping that this one is one of the better ones.

It is nice to see that we have a couple in the Argentine Clausura although neither of these are matched yet but hopefully will be by KO.

There is one other team that I think is worth of opposing today and that is Villa at Wigan, as a Villa fan I cannot bring myself to bet against them but i do have a feeling that Wigan can get a result today.

A lay of Villa @ 2.74 is well worth considering if you are not a Villa fan.

This brings me onto a quick mention of the relegation battle in the Premiership.
Yesterday I stated that I thought the appointment of Terry Connor at Wolves had all but relegated Wolves, I stand by that and think they will go down.

I did however do a bit of a fag packet calculation to see who would be joining them, without boring you with all of the nittty gritty I came up with a bottom 5 as follows:

Bolton - 37 Points
Wigan - 34 Points
QPR - 33 Points
Blackburn - 30 Points
Wolves - 26 Points

On this basis I have backed QPR to go down @ 2.38 and Layed Wigan not to go down @ 1.39

Wolves Get Relegated

Leicester did not read my Blog and unfortunately they managed to score after 16 minutes without reply from Derby, I was tempted to take a red at HT but with just the 1 goal lead hope sprang eternal for an equaliser, sadly it never came.

We have a few games to get into tonight in France, Germany and one in Italy.

So Wolves have appointed Terry Connor as Manager until the end of the season, well I think they will certainly be relegated now and as I am sitting on a 3.5 ticket for this to happen I am a happy bunny.

It looked as though no other manager wanted the job as the money on offer if they went down was not "acceptable" I mean who the hell can afford to live on £500,000 a year for managing a football team ....

This appointment has to be out of desperation

If it Ain't Broke

I have spent the morning going over my P&L for the past few months and once again I have found that when I wander away from what I do best (Laying) I loose money.... why oh why do I keep looking for other things to do when the Laying is the bread and butter way for me to be successful?

The saying that I have used so often in my business life "if it aint broke don't fix it" certainly applies here.

I do want to introduce more of a trading element to my Lays though and looking at my stats I think it could seriously enhance my P&L, I dabbled with this last night in the St. Etienne v Lorient game, having seen the visitors take the lead on 49 mins to then go behind after 68 mins I made an executive decision that if they managed to equalise that I would go green, Bingo on 75 mins they managed to equalise and I was out like a rat up a drain pipe and it was just as well as they conceded 2 in the 5 mins to lose 4-2.

Had I stayed in the game It would have been a loser.

I therefore need to focus on this over the coming weeks and try to develop a plan, I do not want to be trading out of every 1x2 lay as over the years leaving these to run to conclusion has been very profitable for me.
I need to work out which ones I need to get out of and which ones I need to stay in.... that should be nice and easy... NOT.

So last night I ended up with 2 successful Lays as Crawley were held by Morcambe.

The BTTS bets were complete Tosh.

Tonight I intend to Lay/Trade the Derby v Leicester game and have Layed Leicester @ 2.18 as I think this one is going to be tough for them, I will trade out after 45 mins if it is still 0-0 or immediately if Derby take the lead.

Is how I feel after last nights performance

The 1x2 lays started off very positively with Barnet going in front followed by Macclesfield and Shrewsbury.

Alas it was not to be as the night ended with just 2 of the 5 selections doing the business with all 3 of the above mentioned sides throwing away their leads.

Luton were beaten at Barrow and that was the 6th time in 7 away games this season where they have failed to win when odds on, their only win was at Kettering where I think even Chelsea could manage a win at the moment.

The BTTS in the Napoli v Chelsea match was also a winner.

Tonight we have the following 2 Lays:

Crawley v Morcambe - Lay Crawley @ 1.54

St Etienne v Lorient - Lay St Etitenne @ 1.95

We go from a quiet Monday to a rather hectic Tuesday with lots of action in the UK not to mention some Champions League games.

The 1x2 lays are these few and I am going with a Lay of the Day today:

Oxford face Barnet and I think they will come unstuck, they look very evenly matched against Barnet on current form and opposing them at 1.83 looks a decent lay.

Barnet are on a good run with just 1 defeat in their last 5 and they are unbeaten in 3 on the road

Not sure if Luton will trade below 2 but I have an order in anyway.

There are a couple of games tonight where the SG trade will be considered, Blackpool v West Ham looks a likely candidate as does Scunthorpe v Walsall in League 1

I also predict that both teams will score in the Napoli v Chelsea game in Naples where AVB looks to get things right for once, having watched his press conference this morning he already talking about this one being 2 legs, blah blah blah, sounded to me like he expects to get beat here .

Night Off

Another decent day on the Laying front as we were successful in 2 of the 3 games suggested including an odds against Lay in Argentina.

I had mixed fortunes with the SG trades, success in Spain and failure in Italy.

Still early days with this type of trade but it does look promising.

It looks as though we will be thin on the ground with action today, none of the games appeal to me for either laying or SG'ing so it looks as though it will be a quiet night in front of the TV.

There are quite a few games tomorrow night so a night off will do me no harm, in fact I think time away from Punting/Trading is important.

Well another satisfying day and the fact that it was a Saturday was a real bonus.

The 1x2 lays did well today:

2 from 3 in Italy

1 from 1 in France Ligue 1

2 from 3 in England League 2

The only disappointment was Germany where we only managed 1 from 4 but we did get Bayern Munich turned over at 1.34 which is always very satisfying.

Unfortunately the Lay of Charlton didn't get matched which was a shame as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tranmere.

I had mixed fortune with my SG games, I got involved in the Crystal Palace v Watford game expecting a low scoring, slow burner, well at 2-0 I covered myself on the Any Unquoted score line which proved to be my savoir.

I wasn't so lucky later on in the Dijon v Nice game and had to take a red on that one.
Overall so far I am happy with the SG trade, I am treading cautiously and putting in a few tweaks here and there but can see myself having some success with this.

Today sees just a couple of 1x2 lays.

Schalke v Wolfsburg laying Schalke @ 1.70

PSG v Montpellier laying PSG @ 1.86

Just a quick note on the Argentine Clausura, it is early days and I am unable to draw any real conclusions yet as to how well home teams are going to perform, we are only in round 2 and have only had 3 teams kick off at odds on, 2 of which lost so that is looking positive.

There is one fixture tonight where I am going to oppose the home team.

Independiente take on Lanus and looking at the form of the 2 sides at the end of the Apertura and the 1 game played so far in the Clausura Independiente look vulnerable, Lanus have lost just 1 of their last 15 away games, I think we could see a stalemate here and at 2.32 I am happy to take the hosts on.

Late Goals in our Favor

Happy with last nights performance, late goals were the order of the day, at 90 minutes things were looking OK until Bastia scored a late goal to make things look anything but positive as we were only winning in 1 of the 3 games in France, on 90 minutes + Boulogne managed to nick an equaliser at Guingamp and harmony was restored.

On top of that the Scatter Gun trade in Germany played out to the script and returned a handsome profit.

After a disasterous Saturday last weekend I advised that I had devised a plan to ensure that it doesn't happen again, this plan was to basically not have any selections on a Saturday, however I think I had come to this decision rather in the heat of the moment and I have decided to continue as normal for the time being.

Having said that there are a few leagues that I am now avoiding and as a consequence the number of bets has been reduced.

These are the ones we are getting involved in today.

These are already matched (my brain fade from yesterday)

I will also be looking for some SG trading opportunities.

Early Lays in Italy

We have a few early afternoon games kicking off in Italy today and some in France later.

In addition to the 1x2 lays I will again be dabbling in a couple of trades, now you all know that I have been in pursuit of a trade that suits my aversion to risk, well I think I may have found one that ticks most of the boxes and it appears that I am not alone.

Gundulf over at Betfair Football Trading the highs and lows developed a trade that he named the Scatter Gun or SG for short.

I have been playing around with this one for a few weeks and now fedslam (real name John) and his new Blog has been singing its praises from the roof tops and I am going to concur with him that it is indeed a decent trade that for a small downside (stake) can produce a nice upside.

If you are not familiar with it then take a look at the 2 Blogs, in particular Gundulf's as he is the creator and if you go back far enough there are some good explanations as to how it all works.

A game where I will giving it a run out tonight in Germany as Hoffenheim take on Mainz, I do take some 0-0 cover though as I am a real coward when it comes to wipe outs....

I may also look at the Reading v Burnley game.

Tuesday Night Carnage

To say last night didn't go to plan would be an understatement and it did leave me feeling a bit down in the dumps.

3 of the 4 lays were successfully matched the only one that wasn't was the Morcambe v Macclesfield game.

All were doing OK for the 1st 45 minutes and even when Aldershot took the lead on 53 mins I was still confident of a Hereford fight back, that was until they had a man sent off in the 69th minute.

Oxford had taken the lead but were pegged back in the 72nd minute only to regain the lead 7 minutes later.

Bristol Rovers were doing a great job of keeping Shrewsbury at bay right up until they allowed the hosts to take the lead on 86 minutes.

All 3 lays went down and for some reason it did get to me rather more than it usually would, not quite sure why but when I closed the computer down I was left in a right old mood which I took to bed with me.
I even woke up with it this morning so some positive thinking was required and now (mid day) all of the doom and gloom has gone and we are ready to do battle once more..... blimey a right old load of waffle there.

Nothing today but I will be dabbling in a correct score trade type of thing in the Milan v Arsenal game.

Get @ The Shots

The trade down in Bundesliga 2 last night was a duffer as I ended up taking a small red in the Dusseldorf v Frankfurt game, the goals didn't arrive quick enough for me, ho hum and onwards and upwards as they say.

A full league program tonight from Championship down and we have a few to oppose.

I even have a Lay of the Day selection amongst these and it is going to be a Lay of Aldershot as they welcome Hereford to the EBB Stadium.

Quite why the market has the hosts at 1.93 I don't know but taking respective form into account they should surely be odds against.

Aldershot have 2 draws and a loss in their last 3 home games where as Hereford come into this one on the back of 2 draws and 2 wins on their travels including a very respectable 2-2 draw at Oxford in their last away game.
They also held high flying Cheltenham to a 1-1 draw on Saturday albeit at home.

Well yesterday turned out to be a much better day than Saturday.

The Lay of Livorno wasn't matched in Italy but the other 3 were.

A 9 goal thriller in France got us off to a flying start as Lille lost to Bordeaux 4-5
I was getting very nervous when the hosts pegged it back to 4-4 having been behind 1-4

Villa were very inadequate as they went down 0-1 to Man City and took our money with them.

Our Lay in Argentina paid out as Velez were held to a 1-1 draw.

I also managed to trade the Wolves v West Brom match achieving a maximum pay out for my trade (still in testing so not going into any details just yet)

No Laying action tonight but I may get a trade down in Bundesliga 2.

Dreadful

The only word that i can use to describe yesterdays performance, it is almost as though I had talked myself into having a bad day and that is exactly how it panned out, one of the worst days I have had in the 1x2 laying and the trading wasn't any better.

There are hardly any highlights apart from probably the Argentinian Clausura starting off well as Estudiantes failed to beat Newells

I am not going to dwell on the negatives though and I do have a cunning plan to overcome these Saturday nightmares, all will be revealed next weekend.

Today the waters look a little calmer as we oppose these few:

Manic Day

We go from being very quiet to being very busy, unfortunately busy Saturday's don't usually pan out well for me, lets hope that we can reverse that trend today as we have a lot of action.

The good news is that the Argentine Clausura has started and I hope that it can provide us with some decent profits as the Apertura did.

I have looked at the lays today and have decided that none of these are worthy of Lay of the Day status as they are all simply placed on odds and stats.

These are the ones we are looking to get at:

Trading continues to frustrate the life out of me as I ebb and flow and seam to simply tread water, taking one step forward and one step backwards appears to be the norm for me and I am not convinced that it will ever be any different.
I just need that Eureka moment where it finally clicks into place.

My aversion to risk is definitely playing a huge part in this process, watching a position getting redder and redder sees me trading out for the loss, well a lot of traders see this as a good trait as you don't want to be allowing the red positions to keep running.

The problem is when I do exit they inevitably turn the other way and red becomes green.

Also when I exit a green position I usually see that position turn even greener............................ well if it was easy everybody would be doing it wouldn't they.

A Quiet Week

Well it has been so far and it doesn't look like it is going to be too exciting tonight either as there appears to be only 1 game for me to be getting involved in as far as 1x2 laying is concerned.

Wolfsburg take on Freiburg in the Bundesliga and we are getting at the hosts at 1.76

The trading continues to progress in the right direction and money was made last night in the Lazio v Cesena game after the visitors went 2-0 up and reduced Lazio to 10 men I took my profit, it looked the right time to exit as going down to 10 men I assumed that Cesena would be happy with their 2-0 lead and defend like Beavers, they ended up defending like Arsenal and conceded 3.

Had I stayed in a bit longer the maximum profit would have been realised, now where have I heard that before.............................

Taking Cover

That is what I do last night in the Birmingham v Portsmouth match, having backed over 2.5 goals at what I considered to be a very good price of 2.24 I took cover with a dutch of 0-0, 1-0 and 1-1

Cassini thought that it was a lot of cover but I am very pleased that I took it as it ensured that I didn't loose any of my bank.

I could only see goals in the game and was therefore quite surprised that Birmingham left it until the final 5 minutes to find the net, as the saying goes if it looks too good to be true it probably is!

No laying action tonight and it looks as though it will be the weekend before there are any shorties to oppose.

Premature Exits

That is what yesterday was all about

The day started off well when I managed to trade the Genoa Lazio game with my new trading method that is being tried and tested and will be referred to as the TT (trading trial) for the time being.
It produced a winning trade but would have produced a maximum profit trade if I had stayed in that little bit longer.

The exact same thing happened in the Newcastle v Villa game.

So profitable so far and onto the Chelsea v Man Utd game and I decided to Lay Chelsea when they went 2-0 up @ 1.19 only to see them go 3-0 up, still only a small liability and still plenty of time, the 1st penalty went in and I held my nerve, the second one went in and I didn't, greened up but we know what happened next don't we and it appears that I am not the only one Gundulf over at the excellent Betfair Football Trading the Highs and Lows was having the same problem, HERE

Meanwhile over in Germany my 1x2 Lay was doing the business as Kaiserslautern were reduced to 10 men in the 40th minute and went on to lose to Koln so happy days there.

All in all a very good weekend but it could have been oh so much better.....

There are no 1x2 lays tonight but we may have some TT action.

Shock Horror

A very good Saturday is not something that you will here me say very often but that is exactly what we had yesterday.

A lot of games were postponed and we didn't get matched on all of the games selected.

French Ligue 2 provided 2 from 3 and the Bundesliga was also a provider of profits.

We managed to get at Bayern Munich again and they have been very profitable to oppose when on their travels this season, + 19.8 points profit so far for a 10 point backers stake.

In French Ligue 1 I managed to do something that I don't normally do and that was to trade out of a game at half time.

Evian or the "water boys" as I affectionately nick named them, managed to take a shock lead on the stroke of half time at PSG who I had layed @ 1.36.
The market appeared to seriously over react to this as their price went out to 3.45 and enabled me to trade out during the break for a guaranteed 6 points profit.
Now considering my backers stake is only ever 10 points taking 60% of that after just half of the game has to be a deal.

As the gambling gods were clearly shining down on me yesterday my decision was well and truly supported as PSG came out all guns blazing in the 2nd half and equalised on 47 minutes going on to win 3-1.

This is something that I may continue to do if I see an opportunity.

My quest to find a suitable trading method continues but I am playing around with a trade that gives decent returns for low risk, I won't go into any details yet as it is early days.
I tried it out on the QPR v Wolves game yesterday and it worked out OK.
I will keep you informed of progress.

So onto today and it looks as though there will only be 1 game to get involved in as far as straight forward laying goes and that is to oppose Kaiserslautern as they take on Koln opposing the home team @ 1.81.

Freezing

Well the English lower leagues have been hit today with the freezing weather but we still have a lot of games to get involved in.

Last nights Lay of Dortmund did not work out as they ran out 2-0 winners.

I am having a torrid time of things at the moment, desperately trying to find a method of trading football that suits my aversion to risk, I have concluded that I am a coward or some may say prudent coward when it comes to putting my hard earned on the line.

If I see large liabilities I get scared and usually run for cover, that is why I generally only lay teams that are odds on with the exception being in Argentina.

Therefore I need a simple trading method that allows me to win a substantial amount of money with little or no real downside or risk to my capital....
Answers on a postcard please.

These are the teams we are getting at today:

The Lay of the Day is going to be:

Crawley as they take on Bradford (hopefully this one survives the freeze).

Based on their respective league positions high flying Crawley should win this but if you look at the respective home and away form it tells a different story, Bradford are unbeaten in 5 at home whilst Crawley have managed just 1 win in their last 5 away games, drawing their last 4.

I expect this one to be a close game finishing 0-0 or 1-1 (so get on the any unquoted now he says ha ha)

Arrogant Betfair

A good night on Wednesday as we opposed Arsenal @ 1.73 and were dully rewarded as they failed to find the net at Bolton a result that further frustrated the Arsenal faithful for sure.
I layed Arsenal for a top 4 finish at the beginning of the season and certainty wont be trading out just yet and most likely will be letting it run as I just don't see them getting there.

Tonight we are in Germany taking on Dortmund away at Nurnberg laying the visitors @ 1.73

With bad weather forecast for the weekend I am not sure how many games will survive in the lower leagues but hopefully we will have a few to get stuck into.

Just a small rant about Betfair, how many more times do we have to suffer the constant outages that they keep having with their site?

If I was a shareholder and fortunately I am not, I would be calling for heads to roll, they are clearly an arrogant business, run by arrogant people that doesn't give a dam about their customers, the real sad thing is that Betdaq don't appear to want to take up the challenge to try and unseat them.

Treading Water

That is what we appear to be doing at the moment, we had a none eventful night last night, I ended up with an additional lay which proved to be fruitful, opposing Chelsea @ 1.98, they were very fortunate to nick a point and Swansea must have been gutted.

The big letdown was the Lay of the Day as Liverpool hammered a hopeless Wolves 3-0.

Italy was a nightmare with all 3 teams winning the only good news was the Sampdoria games was postponed as they would probably have won as well!
Overall a slight profit on the night but nothing to get too excited about.

Tonight we have just the 1 Lay and I am quietly confident that it will be a successful one as Arsenal travel to the North West to face Bolton.

Bolton have won their last 3 home games, 2 FA Cup ties and a very impressive win over Liverpool.

Arsenal have lost their last 2 away trips conceding 5 goals, they conceded 2 against Villa on Sunday and I have that gut feeling that Owen Coyles men will pull another shock result out of the bag.

I am looking to take on the Gunners @ 1.73

We go form no games on Monday to quite a busy night tonight.

Just to touch on Sunday we ended up slightly in front with 1 of the 2 in France failing to win.

We have games in England and Italy tonight, Chelsea were trading at odds on early this morning (traded as low as 1.75) but have drifted right out to 2.08 now, if they dip below 2 I will be opposing them for sure.

The Lay of the Day is going to be Liverpool at Wolves, despite them having g hit decent form in the Cups against very credible opposition I think they tend to make heavy going of the more mundane tasks such as beating a hopeless Wolves away from home.
Wolves are without a win in 4 at home but Liverpool have only managed 1 win in 5 away from home, I have therefore opposed them @ 1.72

Not Losing Too Much

Yesterday ended up pretty much like most Saturdays do, I didn't win a lot and only managed to lose a little bit.

I ended up being involved in more games than the ones that were posted up early in the morning but I won't bore you all with the gory details, overall the day was not profitable and that is what really matters, although as I have previously stated whilst I do not win all of the time, when I lose I do not tend to lose too much and therefore the bank remains in decent shape to fight another day.

I think this is important and I have always resisted the temptation to chase and "blow the bank".

Also I have found that I can get over losing days very quickly now, I do not dwell on them, simply dust myself down and move onto the next day.

However I am constantly looking at ways to make my betting/trading more successful and I am still in search of a trading method that suits me and I can feel comfortable with, this is a work in progress and will not detract from what I do best (opposing those shorties)

Anyway the good news from yesterday was that the Lay of the Day was successful as Tranmere managed to hold out for a draw with Huddersfield.

So another Saturday is upon us and we have what looks like a relatively busy day across a few leagues.

Last night proved to be profitable as we hit 50% in the Italian Serie B games, unfortunately my Lay of the Day was a loser but having opposed both home sides we only needed 1 to fail to win to secure a profit.

Lay of the Day today is high flying Huddersfield as they nip across the Pennies to take on Tranmere which on the face of it looks a simple enough away win, not for me though as I think Tranmere's current home form coupled with the visitors current away form is reason enough to oppose them.

Tranmere have manged to avoid defeat in their last 3 at home whilst Huddersfield have managed just 1 win in their last 5 away trips, now don't get me wrong here as the win was their last away game and they managed to put 6 past Wycombe without reply so Tranmere will have to be on top of their game in every department in order to get anything here but I think they can.

Serie B Beckons Tonight

We have at least 1 in Serie B tonight and maybe 2.

Juve Stabia v Crotone is the early kick off and Juve are currently trading at around 2, I will be looking to oppose them if they get down around the 1.96 mark and will have an order in at 1.98 up until kick off.

The later game is high flying Pescara against Modena and I am laying the hosts at 1.58 and this is the Lay of the Day.

Pescara sit 3rd in the league and could go top tonight with a win.

The visitors are at the opposite end of the table in 17th place but their away from is not too bad, only 1 defeat in their last 8 away matches managing to clock up 5 draws and 2 wins and this is why I am happy to take on the hosts at 1.58.

Well that is what Mansfield are good at on their travels and they managed another one last night and in so doing ensured a nice return for our Lay of the hosts Luton.

They have drawn 4 of their last 5 now when away from home.

We were well overdue a result in the Blue Square Premier as recent lays of the home teams have not been very successful, lets hope that last night was the turning point and we will now go on a decent run in this league.

It is a typical Thursday night with nothing to oppose, should have some action tomorrow night though.

Annoying Red Cards

A rather nondescript night last night we only managed to get 1 of the selections beaten but it was satisfying to see Kettering beat Gateshead as they clearly were not expected to with the visitors trading at sub 1.5 before the kick off.

Annoyingly in the other Blue Square Premier game Braintree took the lead against Fleetwood and then went on to have a man sent off which scuppered any chance of holding out for a point or better, this has happened to me several times this season and no doubt will happen again, its annoying as it never appears to be the favorite that has players sent off.
I am not saying that Braintree would have held out for points but having an equal number of players to the opposition would surely have helped.

We are opposing Luton tonight who play host to Mansfield, Luton are in decent form winning their last 3 at home but Mansfield are no mugs on the road as they have lost only 1 of their last 5 (drawing 4) and have only lost 2 away all season.

We are laying Luton @ 1.58 which appears rather generous to me considering Mansfield's away record.

Well Sunday was not the best day Laying that I have had in fact % wise it couldn't have been much worse as 100% of the selections managed to win.

We were a tad unlucky in Germany as it looked as though Mainz were going to hold on having made a dramatic come back against Leverkuson from 2-0 down only for the hosts to score the winner and hold on.

So all in all a poor day but I am hopeful of getting my revenge tonight as we oppose these:

Satisfying Saturday

Well that is how it felt, I am very happpy with how things turned out yesterday, as always we had some ups and we had some downs but overall we had a very good day.

Lets get the howlers out of the way first:

The Blue Square Premier continues to be a tough league to crack but we will persevere with it.

League 2 is still awesome and opposing the away teams in the UK Leagues was a joy yesterday with 4 from 4 failing to win including the Lay of the Day Liverpool who were tonked at Bolton, King Kenny?

Sorry for the very corny title but it just came to me in a flash this morning.

Well maybe I should just throw up very quick post all of the time as last night we ended up with the perfect 2 from 2 as both selections were winners.

Getting Bayern Munich turned over is always a nice feeling (sorry if you backed them to win) and the Italian Serie B continues to produce some very nice profits by opposing those shorties.

But as we all know today is Saturday and things generally do not go as planned for me on Saturday's.

We are opposing quite a few today as always and hopefully the Saturday curse will stay away from us.

A much better performance last night with 2 of the 3 selections failing to win, we were only denied a hat trick with a late goal in the Bastia v Le Harve game for the home side.

Anyway I cannot grumble at that, 2 from 3 secures a nice profit for the night.

That is what we are back to tonight in the French Ligue 2.

Last nights Lay of Leicester in the FA Cup certainly did not go to plan as they were easy winners against a hapless Forest side, there was never any chance of me escaping unscathed from that one.

This year has not started out as well as I had hoped to be honest and I need a confidence booster as we go into the final half, as any readers (I know there are a few) know I am an eternal optimist so I am very confident that things will always take a turn for the better.

We are back to the straightforward 1x2 lays tonight which is probably what I need as I do not have to have an opinion in these they are determined by the odds.

Lay Leicester

We failed to collect last night on the Wigan game as Man City managed to nick the win 1-0.

Just looking through the FA Cup fixtures tonight trying to decide if we can oppose any of the teams involved.

All of the home sides are trading at odds on so you would have to assume that at least 1 of them will get turned over, I just hope it is the one that I have chosen.

I have concluded that Leicester look vulnerable and I am willing to oppose them from the kick off with a view to trading out after 35-40 minutes if no goals have been scored or immediately if Forest score.

Both of these sides are in poor shape, Leicester have spent zillions and are not even in the play off zone. They are currently sitting in 15th place, not a position the Thai owners would have expected at this stage of the season I am sure but as we know spending a lot of money does not guarantee immediate success.
I am sure that Nigel Pearson will get things right eventually bit I do think it will be next season now as automatic promotion looks out of reach and play offs are a lottery anyway even if you get into them.

Forest are in the relegation zone so their season is really about survival.

The FA Cup is probably a distraction for both sides, however there is fierce rivalry between these 2 sides so bragging rights are at stake but I can see a repeat of the 1st tie in Nottingham that finished goal less.

So the trade is as follows:

Lay Leicester @ 1.85 (managed to get on early at this price, now drifting 1.92 as I type) trade out for level profit after 35-40 minutes if goal less.

Laying The ONLY Way

Well that is how it is going to be for the remainder of this year for me (almost a full year)

Laying the home team or the away team is one of those punts/trades that is a winner as soon as the game kicks off and remains a winner until a goal is scored, it can still remain a winner if a goal is scored and it goes your way i.e against the team that you are opposing.

Now I like this sort of warm glowing feeling that this gives me......

Laying short priced teams has been a very profitable style of punting for me over the past couple of seasons, however over the past few months I have been searching for something else and it has taken me a while to conclude that I actually don't need anything else.

So I will continue to lay teams in leagues where the data researched by me tells me that it is profitable to do so and will be increasing my stakes in these leagues with immediate effect.

I am in considerable overall profit in these leagues and have no reason toe believe that things are going to turn against me for the rest of the season (famous last words I know)

These lays are pure gambles though as they are placed before kick off and they are left to run for the entire game.

What I intend to introduce is more lays that my or may not be odds on and I will also introduce an element of trading to these whereby I may lay a team pre kick off and trade out after 35-40 minutes if the game remains 0-0 or if immediately if they concede a goal.

I will also look at some in play opportunities where teams have gone 2 goals up and are trading at silly prices, a casing point - Barcelona last night traded at 1.01 when they went 2-0 up against Real Betis (they were 1.07 before a ball had been kicked) when Betis levelled the scores in the 2nd half Barcelona were still odds on but had drifted out to 1.5, now a lay at 1.01 and a back @ 1.50 is my sort of trade.

Don't get me wrong I will not be laying every 1.01 team in play but you get my meaning as these opportunities do come up all of the time.

So I will be sticking to what I do best and what the title of the Blog says "Lay Away for a Profitable Day"

A Nice Day

Short and sweet this morning as I have a busy day ahead.

It was nice to get Arsenal beaten yesterday, they had drifted dramatically all morning but when RVP scored in the 1st 5 minutes I did fear the worst but Swansea did the business and took all 3 points.

I had earlier secured some nice profits in the Newcastle v QPR game before a ball had been kicked on the final day of my trail of Prematch Trading, I now have to decide whether or not to subscribe?

Anyway just 1 game tonight for me and it is a scary one, well not really scary as the risk element is low and the upside is high.

Top v Bottom, looking at the respective home and away form though it doesn't look as clear cut as the odds suggest, Wigan have lost 2 of their last 5 at home and Man city have won only 1 of their last 5 away and as we know odds on shots do not win all of the time, if they did I wouldn't have a blog.

Well it was a Saturday after all and you all know what happens to me on a Saturday, which should be re named as "lose on lays day"

Anyway I am not going to harp on about it, in fact overall It was OK, I managed to secure some nice profit with my PMT trades and got lucky on the Boudgi Big Game table finishing in 5th place.

The 1x2 lays were to say the least challenging, the Lay of the Day (Chelsea) was I think a tad unlucky as Sunderland should have got something from that game and if they had a finisher in their side they would have probably won it.

The French leagues let me down yesterday having been on a great run of winners before the break they evened things up with a load of losers.

In England League 2 performed very well with me managing a nice return and this league is one of the best leagues at the moment for opposing the shorties at home.

We already have a contender for "worst lay of the year" as I opposed Queens Park as they took on Elgin, a narrow victory ensued, .... 6-0 DOH

Onwards and upwards as they say and we oppose Arsenal today as they head off to South Wales to play Swansea.

I have decided to highlight what I consider to be the Lay of the Day and for today that award goes to Chelsea:

MON has worked his magic on Sunderland and they look a totally different side to the one managed by Potato Head AKA Steve Bruce.

They have lost just 1 game since he took over away at Tottenham losing 1-0, winning 3 of their last 4 including a shock 1-0 win over Man City.

They will surely fancy their chances today.

Chelsea are not having the best of seasons and I am not convinced by AVB at the moment, is he the man to get Chelsea back into the title race (certainly not for this season), the jury is still well and truly out on that one but I guess he needs time and can only really be judged after at least a full season in charge.

They have failed to win their last 2 at home, held by Fulham and beaten by Villa

Are they really 1.45 shots, I don't think so.

PMT 1st Red

Well it had to happen and I copped for a red last night for the 1st time using Prematch Trading, I had got involved of a back bet in the correct score market in the Osasuna v Barcelona Cup match and the clue should have been in the title "Barcelona" and "Cup".

I had backed 1-1 as it looked too high, was oh so close to getting matched a tick or so lower only for the odds to go against me, it happens I know and I was at least man enough to take my medicine and take the RED.

In hindsight getting involved in this game was a mistake, Barcelona were clear favorites and the 1-1 score line was hardly going to be popular amongst the betting public, ironically Osasuna did take the lead just before half time so had I gone in play I would have been able to green out but as stated yesterday a Golden Rule that I am adopting with this type of trading is Never go in Play.

I am only using small stakes at the moment as I am still trialing the software and learning as I go along so no serious damage was done.

There are no 1x2 lays tonight but we should have a few tomorrow and on Sunday.

A Quiet Week

Well it has been fairly quiet this week so far, a poor night on Tuesday with both Blue Square Lays managing to win, that league is turning into a bit of a dog for me, after a promising start, we have now had 8 consecutive winners, however as I know through the experience of doing this things can turn around and a none profitable league can become a profitable one.

I continue my trial with Pre Match Trading (PMT) and managed to make some nice profit on a couple of correct scores in last nights Man City v Liverpool game, all done and dusted a couple of hours before kick off.

This type of trading suits my style as I do not like sitting in front of a screen whilst a match is on, I would rather have it all done before the ref blows the whistle to get things started.

Geoff at fulltimebetting who's blog is Here and is well worth a read was bemoaning his luck when getting caught out by early goals, this won't happen to me as I have the golden rule firmly implanted in my noggin, NEVER GO IN PLAY

Anyway enough waffle from me, the 1x2 lays should be getting back to somewhere near full strength this weekend as the French Leagues start again, Germany will be back soon and my favorite League the Argentinian Clausura starts again next month.

Midweek Action

I mentioned the other day that I was trialing some software and Vagabond asked whether or not it was Shirley, the simple answer is yes, I am currently trialing the PMT Software and have to say so far so good, it does highlight some accurate mispriced markets and I am pleased with it so far, still a way to go but the early indications are that me and Shirley could be a match made in heaven.

Now this might sound a bit strange coming from a Villa fan but he managed to cost me yesterday what would have turned a bad day into a good one.

The 1x2 Lays had one of the worst days so far this season, it always appears to happen on a Saturday and I have harped on about this before, however I am now of the mind set that these days will happen occasionally and does it really matter if it is a Saturday or a Wednesday and the short answer is no.

Anyway I decided that I would have a very speculative Lay of the under 4.5 goals in the Bristol Rovers v Aston Villa FA Cup tie, I Tweeted it HERE

Well the first half was a very dour affair and the Lay looked dead a and buried, even when Villa went 3-0 up in the 78th minute there appeared to be no hope, a 90th minute goal for the hosts still didn't move the price enough to green out and I thought that was it.

OMG an injury time penalty for the hosts, this is it the gambling gods are shining on me, 12 yards away from covering all of my earlier losses and a nice profit on top, but our Brad had other ideas and manages to save what was a poor effort by McGleish....................... gutted.

Anyway onwards and upwards I am having some fun with some software that I am currently trialing and will talk more about this over the next week or so if I decide to continue with it, the early signs are very encouraging.

Well yesterday was almost a perfect day but unfortunately Verona spoiled the party slightly by scoring 2 late goals to beat Modena

Anyway can't really complain as we ended up with 2 from 3 Lays coming in.

Fortunately for me my Lay of Huddersfield didn't get matched, they drifted like a barge all day and kicked off at around the 2.12 mark only to go on and hammer Wycombe 6-0 with Jordan Rhodes getting 5.
12 goals in his last 5 games is some going, a Tweet from the Moose (Talk Sports Ian Abrahams) last night made me chuckle, he said Jordan Rhodes has scored more goals in 75 minutes than £35 Million Andy Carrol has scored in his entire Liverpool career.

Now that would have been a contender for worst Lay of the year even after just 6 days!

Well the Dutch that is, never really looked like I was going to make any money with it and to be honest with you I was very tempted to scratch the trade early doors but didn't an paid the price in the end............

However City and Sunderland winning did pay dividends for me as I had Tweeted earlier in the evening that I was doing a dirty double on the 2 sides winning.

So we are back to what I do best tonight and that is Laying those shorties.

Newcastle v Man Utd and I am Laying Man Utd @ 1.73, it has the makings of a decent game and it has been made slightly more enjoyable for me by Spreadex giving me a £50.00 risk free "Birthday" spread bet (47 years young today) I will probably opt for a Buy of player goal minutes once the teams are announced.

Let's hope it is a happy birthday to me.

More Premiership Dutching Tonight

Yesterday worked out OK for the 1x2 Lays and overall a profit was made on the day, there was an additional bonus Lay of Southampton @ 1.98 as they went to Brighton which was a late qualifier and paid off as they were beaten 3-0.

The laying of the total goals in the Premiership is definitely a work in progress and I have had some more thoughts on it which I will try and post up over the next few days.

14 goals yesterday and I needed less than 12 (the Spread traders had it about right at 13.25 - 13.75)

Anyway there is no Lay action tonight but we do have a decent looking game in Manchester as the City half take on Liverpool.

City are trading at 1.98 as I type for a win which looks big, however I am going with my 3 dutch bet with a view to trading out at a suitable point.

A Good Start

Overall we had a decent start to the new year. Josh asked a question regarding the dutch of the correct score in the WBA v Everton game:

The answer is as follows: ROI was 42% (I did Tweet this as it happened), I traded out at Half Time for level profit.

The 1x2 Lays were a bit up and down yesterday with some woeful results, I will highlight the worst 2 - Laying Luton who won 5-0 at Kettering and Laying Wrexham who beat Telford 4-0, however there were 2 winners as we managed to get Man city beaten @ 1.53 and Mansfield held on at York for a 2-2 draw despite going into a 2-0 lead.

We have a load of action again today with a full League Program in England & Scotland.

I have decided to get involved in the West Brom v Everton game the early KO on Sky.

Looking at the form of both sides a draw appears to be the obvious choice, I have decided to Dutch 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2 with the intention of trading out at a suitable point during the game.

If the 1st half remains goal less I should be able to get out for around a 48% ROI but will have the safety net of goals with the 1-1 and 2-2 covered, let's see how it pans out.

Hello 2012

So 2011 is done and dusted and we get off and running with 2012.

We ended the year on a relative high with 3 of the 4 1x2 lays winning, it was great so see Villa win at Stamford Bridge. We were only denied a perfect 4 from 4 by a 90+3 goal by 10 man Swindon at Northampton.

The lays of the total goals in the 7 Premiership games failed as the games in question produced 20 goals, I had predicted 16 so I was some way short of getting that right, with 10 mins to go in the games it looked good but late goals scuppered the bet, however this is a bet that i will be getting involved in more during the year so watch this space.

So onto today and we have a few to oppose in the Blue Square Premiership and 1 in the Premiership.

Hopefully we can get 2012 off to a good start.

2011 Bows Out

Just one game of interest for me today and I am opposing Crawley @ 1.38 as they play host to Barnet in League 2

I was considering a a Dutch Trade in the Liverpool v Newcastle game but having looked at it further it looks very tough to call, you would think a Liverpool win is a foregone conclusion but their recent home form is very poor with just 1 win in 5 (4 draws) Norwich, Swansea, Man City and Blackburn all coming away with a point.

A draw therefore would be no surprise but my powder will be staying dry until tomorrow where I am looking at the total goals market in the 7 Premiership games.

Dutching the Way Forward

Well maybe, only time will tell but I managed to get out of the Old Firm trade at half time with the score at 0-0 for a nice 48% ROI, as it happens it was perfect timing as Celtic took the lead early in the 2nd half but my money was already in the bank by then.

No action today but I may get involved in the Liverpool v Newcastle game tomorrow night. Already working on some new ideas for low risk high potential reward sort of trades for 2012.

Tottenham on Fire

Well Tottenham looked might impressive last night and took my money without any problems.

The only real action today is up in Scotland where Celtic v Rangers is a game that I have decided to get involved in.

I am dutching 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2 with a view to a trade out at some point, I did this in the Swansea v QPR game yesterday and it played out perfectly so I am going with it again today.

I intend to look for a few more trading angles on football for 2012 to try and master what a good friend of mine has labeled the "wicked mistress sport" and if you look at results and the oh so nearly wins you would have to agree, football is not that easy to predict and has been the death of many a good betting bank.

Helped by a Draw

The 1x2 lays were up and down yesterday.

We took a bit of a spanking in the Blue Square Premiership but League 2 was OK and the away lays of Sheffield Wednesday and Man City also came good.

Overall we ended up slightly in front.

I wasn't sure whether to get involved in the Stoke v Villa game as I find being involved in Villa games (I am a villa fan) a bit frustrating and sometimes emotional.

However in the end I decided to go for a correct score dutch of 0-0, 1-1 and 2-2.

I felt strangely calm throughout most of the game with the 0-0 looking to be the most obvious score line, at 75 mins or so Stoke were unlucky to not go in front having a goal bound shot cleared off the line by Gabby Agbonlahor, after rebounding down off the cross bar, this was a signal for me to get active and I managed to lay off half of my stake on the 0-0.

I left the remainder of the bet run its course and duly collected.

Today looks quiet and we will be only getting involved at Norwich laying Tottenham @ 1.8 or better.

Back in Action (Well Lay Actually)

Well that turned out to be more than an OK sort of night, 5 from 5 in French Ligue 1 failing to win ensured a great start to the night, if only Villa hadn't conceded late on it would have been 7 from 8 (Man Utd away at Fulham not the best lay I have ever done).

The Lays of the total goals in the Premiership didn't quite go to plan with a total of 22 being scored

However a further bonus was in store for me though and it was in fact courtesy of Man Utd

Not Such a Good Day

Well Tuesday night didn't turn out to be as good as Monday night as only 1 of the 1x3 Lays managed to win (lose) and the lays in the total goals market for the 2 Premiership game also failed to produce a return as 7 goals were scored.

The total goals market is a market that interests me and I will be continuing my quest to make some money in this market by opposing certain totals.

Sad to see Mark at Trading Horses hanging up his trading boots and going back to the corporate grindstone but at the end of the day it just shows how hard it is to make a "decent" living through trading especially when there is a good offer on the table that will pay you a stack of money whether you "get it right"" or not (similar to managing a Premiership football team).

Anyway I wish him well.

So onto tonight and we have a lot of 1x2 lays in the Premiership and French Ligue 1.

More Comfort

I spoke about my comfort Zone last week and yesterday I was well and truly in it laying the total goals market in the Premiership, I had layed 6 or more goals @ 1.04 and 8 or more @ 1.15 unfortunately Man City managed to score to blow the 6 goals or more but the 8 or more was well and truly landed, this more than made up for the poor performance in the 1x2 lays.

Tonight we are opposing York as they play Kidderminster, I have layed the hosts @ 1.79

Profit is Profit

Well I managed to eek out a small profit yesterday, some of the games listed were not matched and some additional ones came into play including Chelsea away at Wigan (a serious gubbing took place there).

We were very unlucky with a few late, late goals but as I have said before these tend to even themselves out over the course of the season.

Some nice results in the Bundesliga 1 and Serie B but not so good in our own League 2.

I also dabbled in the total goals market for the Premiership which worked out OK, I will explain briefly what I did.

I took a view that there would be no more than 12 goals in the Premiership games and Layed 8, 10 and 12 goals or more for very low liabailities and some seriously good potential upside (comfort zone again).

Going into the Chelsea game we had 10 goals so I was left with a dilemma as trying to lock in profit was almost impossible with the over 1.5 goals market in that game trading @ 1.25, so I had to let it ride and hope that there would be no goals for a while to allow these odds to lengthen.

Well they did and I managed to back over 1.5 goals @ 2 and in doing so lock in a nice green chunk of profit.

I will be trying this out again today, I see no more than 8 goals today so i have layed 6 and 8 goals or more and if I can get to the Man City game in tact I will look at trading again.

Busy Saturday Ahead

Yesterday turned out OK in the end, Nantes v Laval wasn't matched (shame really as the away team won) and Clermont v Boulogne are scheduled to play today (showing as postponed last night) Bayern manged to win easily even with 10 men but Sarfend managed to lose and Sedan and Arles played out a 0-0 draw to secure profit on the night for us.

Looks as though we have a busy day ahead of us, some of these probably won't get matched at the requested prices and some won't get matched at all.

I will also be monitoring the "in play" markets for the English Leagues at half time to see if there are any opportunities to enter my Comfort Zone laying very short priced teams that are holding a lead.

I did look at the halftime scores in the Europa League but there were no games that appealed in terms of laying.

Comfort Zone

Well we all have one that we like to bet/trade in don't we?

I have mine and it is being able to lay short priced teams, normally these lays are placed prior to kick off and are left to run their course during the game, I do not sit in front of the screen and trade out when goals are scored/conceded, they wither win or lose.

99% of these lays are with teams priced below 2 as that is where I am comfortable as I like to win more than I can lose in a bet.
The exception to this has been my laying of teams above 2 in Argentina which has proven to be very successful during the latter stages of the Apertura.

However I do like to get involved in some games in play and these have started to surface a bit more over the past few weeks.

There were no 1x2 lays for me last night and I was left looking at the Europa League games none of which filled me with a lot of enthusiasm, I have a "e machine" that sits along side me in the living room that I use to keep up to date with scores when I have an involvement.

I had a "mug under 2.5 goals treble" bet running in the 6:00pm kick offs which soon went down as the PSG v Aht Bilbao game had 3 goals in the 1st half so my involvement looked over for the night and I was about to turn the machine off when I thought I would have a look at the in play markets on Betfair as it was now half time.

The one that stood out like a dogs danglies was Din. Kiev v M. Tel Aviv, the hosts were 2-0 up and they could be layed @ 1.02 (now this is really my comfort zone) a £2.00 liability for a potential £100.00 gain with 45 mins to do it in is my sort of comfort.
Well the rest is history as they say, 2 red cards for the hosts and a very nice return for me.

Boyed by this win I took a look at the 8:05 kick offs to see if there were any that could be worthy of a small investment from a laying point of view and decided that Fulham were too short @ 1.3 without kicking a ball and a lay was struck.
2 goals for Fulham in the 1st half had me marking it down as a losing bet, I even turned the e machine off and didn't check the result until this morning.... well what do you know.

Anyway enough of this after timing (I do have the Betfair P&L to proof the bets if requested) but I don't like sticking them on the blog as it is not a P&L blog.

So I will no doubt be looking at the odds again tonight before kick off and at half time and I hope I can find some more "comfort"

Looking at the games, I am undecided yet but PSV look a bit short against Rapid Bucharest and could be layed @ 1.42, what i will probably do is wait until half time and make a call then, I will Tweet whatever I decide to do, if anything.

All Over In Argentina

Well the Apertura ended last night in Argentina and we were only successful with our Lay of odds on shots Lanus who were held to a 2-2 draw by Newells's Old Boys.
I will crunch some numbers over the next few days for this league.

Tonight we are taking on Forfar as they entertain Stirling in Scotland League 2, I have layed the hosts @ 1.79.

Nice to see Manchester City dropping points at Chelsea as this keeps my straight forecast of Utd/City for the title alive and well.

Argentina Hit Back

Shock horror there were 4 from 4 home wins in the Argentine Apertura yesterday which is unfortunate as we were opposing 2 of the home sides, ah well we have a chance to finish things of tonight as the Apertura comes to an end, more at the end of the post...

So yesterday ended up being a poor day in the end, we managed to collect on Dortmund as they failed to win @ 1.29 and we were unlucky with Bayern Munich.

I had 2 single win bets on Sunderland to beat Blackburn and Tottenham to beat Stoke, these were also put in a double. Managed to Lay Blackburn in play @ 1.9 early in the 2nd half so that worked out well and then decided to Lay Tottenham @ 2.02 to lock in profit on the double which again worked out OK as my double stake was recouped with the Tottenham loss.

I was going into the Argentina games full of confidence but unfortunately none of them were reading my script and they all of the home teams managed to win spoiling what had been a half decent day.

In France only the Lille game was matched which was another loser as they managed to beat Dijon.

So tonight and the early hours of tomorrow morning sees the final few games in the Argentine Apertura. I am taking on Lanus @ 1.84 as they host Newell's Old Boys and I am also opposing Velez Sarsfield against Racing Club as these 2 look very evenly matched with Racing having very good away form I have layed Valez @ 2.48.

I also wouldn't rule out a 0-0 scoreline.

Let's hope we can sign off the end of the Apertura with some profit.

Another Saturday where a profit was made and I am happy with the performance of the selections, it has always been tough to make money on a Saturday but yesterday panned out OK, there were a few late goals which took profit away from me but they do even themselves out over the course of a season .............. don't they?

It was nice to take money out of French Ligue 1 again with 3 of the 5 selections failing to win.

It was also nice to see Charlton fail to win away at Walsall.

So we have a few games to get stuck into today

I guess over the course of a season late goals even themselves out so i won't harp on about it annoying as it was.

Italy and Serie B is progressing well and we are taking some nice profits there at the moment with some of these home teams finding the pressure of being a short price too much for them.

Anyway onto today and we are looking to get at this lot:

More Progress in Argentina

Another nice result last night in Argentina as the hosts Banfield went down 0-2 to Belgrano in fact you could have had a field day laying the home teams in Argentina over the past 72 hours with just 1 home team winning in 8:

A good result in Argentina last night which secured a nice profit for us.

We are staying in Argentina tonight and if I can get my lay bet matched @ 2.5 or better I will be taking on Banfield as they entertain Belgrano, it baffles me as to why Belgrano are trading at 3.15 for the win, if you look at their form it makes no sense at all.

So they remain unbeaten on the road!

Interesting discussion regarding the Lyon v Zagreb game last night in the Champions League over at Sportstradinglife and it has just been announced that irregular betting patterns are now being investigated.

Slim Pickings

Well it was on the laying front last night with a marginal profit over the 6 games, nice to see Luton failing to win again away from home, I have taken them on 4 times when they have been odds on away from home and they have failed to win all 4.

Argentina was a let down last night as All Boys managed to nick a 1-0 win.

I did manage to land a cheeky double backing both Barnsley and Chelsea to win so that did bolster the coffers somewhat.

Tonight we are heading over to Argentina again to oppose Godoy Cruz as they play Colon in the early hours, both of these look well matched and it is hard to see why the hosts are as short as they are, I have layed them @ 2.04

Sunday Shocker

Saturday was kind to us, Sunday wasn't, turned out to be a bit of a shocker to be honest, the French Ligue 1 has started to hurt me now, the home sides couldn't win at the start of the season but they have started to win now and it is evening itself out.

I lay teams in a lot of leagues and most of them are still in front for the season but there are a few that are letting me down.

Fortunately we still have Argentina which is a star league as far as laying home sides is concerned.

Not much tonight apart from 1 in French Ligue 2 where we are taking on Reims as they entertain Nantes, laying the hosts at 1.98 or better.

Well it looks as though the Sharks have had it away with my MON Lay money, always a risk when playing in these markets as there is a very good chance that certain exchange players know considerably more about the appointment than you do, not that I am suggesting any "insider trading" but surely if you had a tad of knowledge about the appointment you would be very tempted to hit the back button.

Almost a Good Night

Well it was until the 78th minute of the Wrexham v Darlington game, Darlington had been leading 0-1 and my Lay was looking good, 78 minute equaliser for Wrexham and then 3 minutes later they get was what to be the winner.............. gutted.

So Steve "Potato Head" Bruce has been shown the door by Sunderland and the Next Sunderland Manager market is up and running, well I have had a Lay of Martin O Neill @ 1.9 as I do not believe he will go there and Laying the 1st favorite in these markets has proved to be a winning strategy on many occasions.

No Lays today but looks like we are back in action tomorrow night in France and I also have 1 in my favorite Country at the moment Argentina.

Just realised that there is an error on the ROI calculation for my 1x2 lays so far this season, for some reason the formula was incorrect on the spread sheet, the ROI is in fact 7.5% and not the lofty 24%, sorry about that.

A decent day yesterday with a loss in France but a nice winner in Germany with Bayern Munich getting turned over @ 1.39.

My Argentine selection was also a success as Valez Sarsfield were held at home by Colon playing out a 1-1 draw.

I have just crunched some numbers for my Argentine experiment and although we are talking about a small number of selections we are + 37 points and a ROI of 38%.

These are lays above 2.0, home teams only.

Vagabond asked a question about the profitability of my selections, I can safely report that over the past 2 seasons my Lays in various leagues have produced a nice steady profit, so far this season we are + 109 points and a ROI of 24%

No selections today.

Decent Progress

Another Saturday where positive progress was made, we managed to make some money with our chosen games and we were unlucky with a couple of the games going against us with very late winners but I am overall a happy bunny.

Argentina continues to fascinate me, these boys just do not like to win at home only 33% of the games have finished with the home teams in front.

Yesterday was a layers dream out there with none of the home teams managing to win, I was on the Racing Club game but wish I had layed the lot but i have set myself some restrictions and the other games were not suitable.

So onto today and we have a couple of very low risk potential nice return lays in France and Germany.

I am also continuing my Argentine conquest and looking at the games we have one that stands out as a close match up.

Valez Sarsfield take on Colon and I think we could see a stalemate here so I am happy to take on the hosts at 2.26 or better

There are 3 other games but i am not prepared to get involved but it would be no surprise to see all of the home teams failing to win again.

Finally the BTL selection from yesterday (HERE) was a bit of a disappointment in running, his odds steamed in before the off and you could have greened out for a nice profit, in running despite finishing 2nd (beaten by 4 lengths) he only traded at 7.8 so if you had followed my advised exit point unfortunately you would have lost.

I will not clutter the Blog with more BTL stuff unless things get really boring on the football front (International breaks).

Another Dull Week........... so far

Almost as bad as the International break this week, we will have some action tomorrow night but the last couple of day shave been devoid of anything for me as I do not get involved in Cup games.

As an aside I do dabble in horse racing utilising a Back to Lay style of betting where by I look for horses that I think will trade lower than the price that I take in running.

I generally stick to the Winter All Weather as this is an area that has proven to be profitable for me over the past few years.

Good Night In Argentina

A goal after 20 minutes was enough for Arsenal as they beat Lanus 1-0 and secured our money for the night.

As a Villa fan I was very disappointed with their performance at White Hart Lane and they look a very poor side going forward, they lack any imagination in midfield and this can only be down to a certain Ginger haired person that is at the helm and his style of play.

I cannot believe that they have paid such a lot of money for Nzogbia and he wasn't even playing last night, sat on the bench and not used Madness.

A couple more bad results and the Mcleish banners will be out for sure.

Anyway back to business and we have no selections today so I will be having a day of rest.

Another Steady Day

Well this has been the theme of the weekend, nice and steady.

No major drama today but a nice return overall with PSG being turned over at 1.33, this league is proving to be very profitable indeed when opposing those shorties at home!

San Lorenzo were also beaten in Argentina which rounded of a 2/3 day for me.

We are back in Argentina in the early hours of tomorrow morning to oppose Lanus as they host Arsenal

I am more than happy to take on Lanus as Arsenal have very good away form having played 7 they have W2 D5 L0.

A rather calm Saturday for once, no major profits made but more importantly no major losses and I will be happy to have every Saturday like this.

The Argentine Lay didn't perform as expected with the hosts running out 3-0 winners but we are still progressing in the right direction there so I am certainly not too concerned.

Sunday looks like another quiet day with only 3 games of interest.

In France:

PSG v Nancy - Lay PSG @ 1.3

In Germany:

Stuttgart v Augsburg - Lay Stuttgart @ 1.4

We then go over to South America for some Argentine action:

San Lorenzo take on Union Santa Fe and I think we can oppose San Lorenzo here as the visitors will be no push over with only 2 defeats in their last 5 away games and one of those was at table topping Boca Juniors.

San Lorenzo have managed just 2 home wins in their last 5 and I am happy to take them on @ 2.2.

Well I really hope the rest of the weekend is as good as Friday evening was.

3 out of 3 of the 1x2 Lays obliged as well as Tigre beating Newell's Old Boys in Argentina made it a perfect 4/4.

I was a little nervous as Kettering took a 2-0 lead at Tamworth only to go down to 10 men on half time but they held on for a 2-2 draw.

More of the same today please "oh God of Gambling" up there.

We are opposing this lot which I have to say is a much more sensible volume of games for a Saturday:

We also continue our ventures in Argentina taking on Independiente as they host Olimpo Laying the hosts @ 2.06 or better.

Back In Action

It feels like an eternity since we last had some decent football to get stuck into but we have a few games tonight and a decent looking day tomorrow.

I am looking to be involved in these few:

We also have a bit of Argentine action as Newell's Old Boys take on Tigre this one looks a perfect fit for opposing the home team as they look very evenly matched and the hosts find it hard to secure 3 points at home in fact they have so far this season found it impossible

Satisfying Sunday

So we follow up Super Saturday with a very satisfying Sunday.

4 from 6 of the 1x2 Lays were successful giving us a very nice return for the day.

Action again is very thin on the ground this week and it looks as though it will be Friday before we have anything to get involved with, can we get a petition going to ban International breaks?

So I will be back towards the end of the week.

Super Saturday

Well I never thought I would be saying that on this blog!

Saturday is usually a day to forget for me but yesterday it all went perfectly to plan.
Before getting carried away though there were only 3 games that I was involved in but never the less 3/3 is still very pleasing.

What was even more of surprise was the come back up in Scotland in Division 3.

Stranraer were beating Montrose 4-0 and I had already entered this one as a loss in the spread sheet, then in the 63rd minute Stranraer had their goal keeper sent off and substitute goal keeper Ryan Marshall had a debut to forget as they went on to concede 4 goals in 10 minutes and secure the money for me!

San Lorenzo were also beaten by All Boys in Argentina which ensured a bounce back for the Argentine experiment.

We have a feast of games in Italy Serie B today and I hope we can grind out a decent return from opposing this lot:

A Wee Bit of Action

How boring has this week been, I have already said what I think of these International breaks so I won't repeat myself but as they say in the USA "they SUCK!!"

So we have a bit of action today with a couple of 1x2 Lays in Scotland

We also have a game in Argentina tonight when San Lorenzo take on All Boys
I am happy to take the hosts on @ 2.22 or better. All Boys have only lost 1 of their last 5 games home and away and the same numbers away from home, they look a tough nut to crack on the road.

Tomorrow looks slightly better on the 1x2 laying front as we have some Serie B action.
